Omachi Rent a Car has two branches. The Shinano-Omachi Station Branch is a 2-minute walk from the station; the Omachi Onsenkyo Branch lets you set off straight from the hot-spring village. Both make an ideal base for the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, Kurobe Dam, Northern Alps hiking and autumn drives.

🚶 A 2-minute walk from JR Shinano-Omachi Station on the Oito Line. If you arrive by limited express Azusa and the Oito Line, you can walk straight over with your luggage. The branch is inside Takenoya Ryokan, so you can also stay at the inn and use Omachi as your base for the Northern Alps.

♨️ Convenient if you are staying at one of the ryokan or hotels in Omachi Onsenkyo. At roughly 20 minutes from Ogizawa, this is the closest base to the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route — handy for early starts, or for heading straight to the hot springs after a hike.

Frequently asked questions

Where exactly are your branches?

We have two. The Shinano-Omachi Station Branch is at 3059 Omachi, Omachi City, Nagano, inside Takenoya Ryokan, a 2-minute walk from JR Shinano-Omachi Station on the Oito Line. The Omachi Onsenkyo Branch is at 2811-3 Taira, Omachi City, Nagano, inside the Sake Museum.

How long does it take to reach Ogizawa and Kurobe Dam?

Ogizawa is about 30 minutes by car from the Station Branch and about 20 minutes from the Onsenkyo Branch. From Ogizawa, the electric bus reaches Kurobe Dam in about 16 minutes. Private cars cannot continue beyond Ogizawa to Tateyama Station.

Can I return the car to the other branch?

Returning to a different branch may be possible depending on vehicle availability. Please tell us your preference when you book. Delivery to Hakuba, Azumino or Matsumoto can also be discussed.

Are the cars and rates the same at both branches?

Yes. Vehicles and rates are identical. Every car is 4WD, with studless tyres fitted in winter. Just choose your pick-up branch when booking.

What are your opening hours and how do I book?

Both branches are open 8:00 to 18:00, with irregular holidays. Booking requests can be sent through the web form 24 hours a day, and we reply during opening hours. Advance booking is required; we cannot serve walk-in customers.
