How to Rent — Step by Step

Visit Our Shop
Come to our shop on your rental day (inside Takenoya Inn — 2 min walk from Shinano-Omachi Station). Please bring:
- Driver's License (original)
- Passport (international visitors)
Pick-up service available on request (advance booking required).
Returning the Vehicle
Return Notes
Please return the vehicle on time to our shop (inside Takenoya Inn).
Return the car with a full tank of fuel.
Any overtime charges or fuel shortfalls will be settled at the time of return.
Drop-off Service: After returning the car, we can drive you to your hotel, station, or other location (advance booking required, paid service).
Omachi City area ¥3,000 / Hakuba or Matsumoto ¥6,000 (one way, tax incl.)

Driver's License Requirements
To drive in Japan, you must present one of the following licenses.
If you forget your license on the day, we cannot rent the vehicle to you.

Japanese Driver's LicenseA valid driver's license issued in Japan.

International Driving Permit (IDP) Must be based on the 1949 Geneva Convention.
- ❌ 1968 Vienna Convention IDPs (common in EU countries) are NOT valid in Japan. Your IDP must state "1949 GENEVA".
- ❌ Digital copies or photos are NOT accepted. You must bring the original paper booklet.

Foreign License + Official Japanese Translation Drivers from the following countries/regions may drive with their original license + an official Japanese translation (no IDP needed).
